Scientific research has shown that kids tend to like food with cartoon characters on them more than food without cartoons. It shows that popular cartoons, such as Dora or Shrek are influencing kids decisions to eat certain types of food. Nutrition experts have long since argued that the cartoons should be removed from the packages, due to the fact that about one-third of teens in the US are either overweight or obese.
For the latest test, researchers at Yale University gave 40 children, ages 4-6, three identical pairs of snacks, graham crackers, gummy bears, and carrots. One package of food had a cartoon character on them, the others didn't. When children were asked what they would pick, More that two-thirds said the one with the cartoon on the package. It shows how powerful and influential these snack can be.
My opinion is that they should not keep the cartoons on the packages, so that kids can be more healthy.
